Choice of Exams at home or centre

Take multiple-choice exams online at home or our center in Nottingham. Home exams need internet, a Windows device with webcam and mic, and incur a £35.50 fee per exam. Exams at the center are free and included in the course fee.

Book your exams, practical training sessions and assessments using our online system on your preferred dates. You can choose to sit your exams remotely from home or at our Nottingham centre.

Step 5: Practice Sessions

Attend hands-on practical training sessions at our Nottingham centre. These include a minimum of two workshop-based sessions in preparation for your final assessment.

Step 6: Course Completion

By dedicating a mere 8 hours a week to self-study, you can complete your Level 2 diploma in electrical installations within 3-6 months.

DURATION & PAYMENT OPTIONS for the 2365 Level 2 Diploma

You can complete the course at your own pace, and you will be registered with City & Guilds for 2 years. While we recommend completing the course within 1 year, you have the flexibility to finish it within a maximum of 2 years. The minimum time required to complete the course is at least 3-5 months, with an average study time of 8 hours per week.

Monthly payments of £380 each for 12 months or £190 each for 24 months.

This course is not eligible for ELCAS funding, you can apply the funding for the next course City & Guilds 2365 Level 3 Diploma.

To be eligible for the ELC, individuals must have completed at least four years of service in the British Military, with the scheme open to both full-time and part-time soldiers.

Upon selecting a course, you'll need to apply for ELCAS funding. Keep in mind that ELCAS claims cannot be submitted through Total Skills. The Enhanced Learning Credits application process comprises multiple stages. If you are still serving, speak to your Education Staff; for Service Leavers, contact your SSR.

C&G 2365 Level 2 Diploma Exams & Assessments

There are 6 exams and assessments in the 2365 Level 2 Diploma.

UNIT 201 HEALTH & SAFETY IN BUILDING SERVICES - MULTIPLE CHOICE EXAM
This is a 40-min multiple-choice exam with 25 questions and requires 60% marks to pass. Its a closed book exam. Normally this would be combined with the practical assessment on the same day.
UNIT 201 HEALTH & SAFETY IN BUILDING SERVICES - PRACTICAL ASSESSMENT
This practical includes many smaller assessments which are covered in half  a day. Normally this would be combined with the exam on the same day.
UNIT 202 PRINCIPLES OF ELECTRICAL SCIENCE - MULTIPLE CHOICE EXAM
This is a 90-min multiple-choice exam with 40 questions and requires approximately 50% marks to pass. Its a closed book exam.
UNIT 203 ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION TECHNOLOGY - MULTIPLE CHOICE EXAM
The exam is a 75-min multiple-choice open book exam with 40 questions. It requires minimum 60% to pass and is open book. 
UNIT 204 INSTALLATION OF WIRING SYSTEMS AND ENCLOSURES - PRACTICAL ASSESSMENT
This is the practical assessment in the course covering different containment systems, cables and circuits.
UNIT 210 UNDERSTAND HOW TO COMMUNICATE WITH OTHERS IN BUILDING SERVICES - EXAM
This is a 40-min multiple-choice exam with 20 questions and requires approximately 60% marks to pass. Its a closed book exam.

Entry requirements for the City & Guilds 2365 Level 2 Diploma

This course is open to learners aged 18 and above, and there are no entry requirements. However, we recommend having a good understanding of English language and Maths. You should be able to read, write and communicate in English fluently.

Can I come and have a look at your training centre before I book a course?

We will be thrilled to give a tour of our facilities. Please contact us to arrange a suitable day and time for your visit.

Is there parking at the centre?

Yes, there is ample free parking onsite.

Does this course offer practical training?

We offer complete practical training with this course and focus on the practical skills as much as the theory. While some training providers give you just enough practical experience to pass the assessments we offer unlimited practice sessions for our learners to feel competent after completion of the course. 

What days would the exams and workshop sessions be available?

You can take the exams on a weekday or weekend and the dates will be available on our system. If you would like to sit the exams at home, the remote invigilation service from City & Guilds is only available during weekdays. The workshop sessions are also available for booking on our learning system.

IS TUTOR SUPPORT AVAILABLE?

The tutor support is available twice a month through Zoom, and you are also able to send your queries on email and these will be answered as soon as possible.

Are the books included in the costs?

There are two books required for this course and they are included in the price of the course. You will receive them few days after you have enrolled on the course.

Do I need my own tools?

We will provide you with all the tools you need however you may choose to bring your own. You will need your own safety boots for the practical sessions. We also highly recommend safety glasses and gloves. These are not provided by the centre due to reasons of hygiene.

When will I get my results and certificate?

We will be able to give you the result after you complete each online exam.
The unit and course certificates will be sent to you after completion of the last exam or assessment. It can take up to 4-6 weeks to receive these.

Can I re-sit the exams if I fail and what are the costs?

You are able to have up to 3 re-sits for each exam. Cost of each re-sit is £45 incl. VAT at the centre and £55 incl. VAT for remote invigilation at home directly by City & Guilds.

What kind of work can I get after completing this course?

After completing this course you can seek employment as a Trainee Electrician or Electrician's mate. We also recommend you to apply for an ECS card, which will help you with employment opportunities.
